Velvet Ridge Fragancia is a small-batch fragrance studio operating out of South Memphis, Tennessee. We have been here since 2017.
A perfumer with a notebook, two hundred raw materials, and the patience to throw away the first ten attempts.
Velvet Ridge Fragancia began in 2017 at a kitchen table on Mendenhall Road. Nine years later, it is still a small studio operation, still hand-poured in twenty-bottle batches, still IFRA-compliant, still made and shipped from Memphis. We are not interested in scaling out of this.
Our discipline is simple: a fragrance ships only when the eleventh trial outperforms the tenth. Most never make it past version four. The collection you see on this site, three signatures, is the entire output of nine years of work.

Our founder is a self-taught perfumer who began studying olfaction in 2014, apprenticed informally under two natural perfumers, and opened the Velvet Ridge studio in 2017. They prefer to stay quietly behind the bench. Press inquiries are welcome through hello@velvetridgefragancia.com.
Their approach blends technical formula discipline with a maker’s intuition. Each bottle that leaves this studio carries a hand-written batch number that links back to a formula in one of the nine notebooks on the shelf above the bench.

The shelves above the workbench hold roughly two hundred raw materials, sourced from suppliers in France, Italy, India, the United States, and Brazil. We work with both naturals (Haitian vetiver, Mysore sandalwood, Calabrian bergamot, Bourbon vanilla) and select synthetics, all evaluated against IFRA’s latest safety standards before they enter a formula.
We do not claim to be one hundred percent natural. Naturals alone cannot deliver the safety, longevity, and consistency we want. Selective synthetics, used responsibly, do.
Eleven versions before a fragrance leaves the studio.
Every fragrance we release has been through at least eleven trials. Most are abandoned. The ones that make it ship in twenty-bottle batches, hand-poured at the bench, capped, labelled, batch-numbered, and inspected one bottle at a time.
We do not run seasonal drops. We do not chase ingredients trending on social. We finish a thing properly, then start the next one.
